Hidden in a back street of the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland town of Maleny, the Purple Palate deliberately seeks out independent wines that DRINK well above their price point.
And that’s the main reason the Purple Palate is not just another bottle shop, but it’s a treasure trove of boutique wines, craft beer and spirits that you won’t find on your standard bottle shop shelf.
Morambro Creek The Bryson
Case in point is the review below of Morambro Creek The Bryson which retails for around $55.00 per bottle, but as Andrew points out in the video, it would easily stand up to better known brands that retail for $100.00 per bottle.
The other thing that set’s the team at Purple Palate way ahead of the rest of the pack is they’ve all spent time developing exceptional palate’s.
So when you have a question about a particular wine, they’re going to be more than willing to share that knowledge with you.
You only need to speak with the Purple Palate’s manager Andrew Jones for a few short minutes and his passion and knowledge of wine becomes evident.
Andrew (who’s currently completing his masters in wine) recognised the fact that people wanted more than just a bottle shop, and that his extensive knowledge (and his teams) could be used to provide people with the knowledge that they needed to make informed intelligent decisions about the perfect wine, craft beer or spirit for every occasion.
The whole team take great pride in staying up to date with what’s happening in their market, and when they do have spare time you’ll find the team studying the latest industry news to expand their knowledge even further.
The bottle shop experience is of course fantastic, but sometimes you can’t always get into the shop to experience the team’s exceptional wine knowledge so.
The Purple Plate Team Are Now Online
Again Andrew recognised the need to provide online education for his market which he’s now sharing via the Liquor Savvy Channel on YouTube.
They’ve also developed a mobile phone app which can be downloaded in the iTunes store (by clicking here) where you’ll get a “Cheers to the Weekend” exclusive deal delivered directly to your phone every Friday.
The Brew Crew kicked off in 2016 (which was actually the 5th birthday celebration for the Brew Crew) with an awesome afternoon of beer tasting and wood fired pizzas.
The competition between the ale’s was tough and these were the results…
And the winner was… Rodenbach grand Cru
Next up was…
And the winner was (and also voted beer of the day) Panhead Canhead Lola Deville
The next competition was between…
With Modus Operandi Zoofeeder winning this battle.
Then is was time for the battle of the IIPA
And Verse Pirate Life IIPA was declared the winner
Last competition of the day was the battle of the Stouts
And the winner was… Panhead Blacktop Stout.
All in all it was a fantastic day, with Jen’s famous woodfired pizzas washed down by an awesome line up of craft beers.
The next Brew Crew event is in March, and you can grab your self an early bird ticket form the Purple Palate’s online store by clicking here.
For those of you keen to head up to the Hinterland and visit Andrew and his team, below is a map that’ll lead you right to their front door.
